WONDERful Warrior

Taylor Shedd, Writer

Wonder Woman is an amazing movie that hits all the marks: it’s funny, action-packed, and full of “girl power” with a smudge of romance.

Wonder Woman is about Diana, young warrior princess from the Amazons, who is suddenly thrust into the world outside her home when ships from World War 2 break through the barrier that keeps the Amazons invisible.

Diana saves Steve Trevor, a World War 2 spy trying to escape the ships, from drowning.  She insists on going with Steve to the outside world to stop the war with her Amazonian powers after fighting ensues on her island. This movie portrays great empowerment for young girls and women everywhere, with fantastic acting and jaw-dropping visuals.

Perhaps one of the best scenes is when Diana walks across ‘No Man’s Land’, a battlefield, after learning that the soldiers on her side have only gained inches of enemy land throughout months of war.  She deflects bullets left and right with her shield and arm cuffs, showing great strength as she leads the soldiers over more and more territory.

The stunning special effects and tense music make this scene so liberating that is possibly my favorite part of the whole movie.

Gal Gadot, the actress portraying Diana, gives hands-down the best performance of the movie.  She was the perfect actress to portray Diana as she embodies beauty and bravery.  Gal has been nominated for and received ‘Best Actress’ many times as a result of her performance.

In my opinion, Wonder Woman deserves 5 out of 5 stars.  Everything from the acting to the music to the visuals makes me feel like this is one of the best movies of 2017.  I don’t think anything could top this movie, except maybe the sequel that is to be released November 2019.

Wonder Woman is a WONDERful movie that everyone should definitely see. Hopefully the sequel will be as equally, if not more, WONDERful.
