There are 104 days of summer vacation, at least, if Phineas and Ferb are to be believed. However, this year, Garland ISD only had 73 days for the break. With only a little over two months, the Eagles had to use their time wisely.
While summer can be spent in different ways, many choose to use their time off from school traveling. From a family farm to a choir tour, the students traveled to many different places.
“I went to the farm that my family has, and we spent some time there like we do,” senior Saniah Phelps said. “It was really fun.”
Some vacations were used for more than just fun. Sophomore Uy Thomas spent her time traveling, feeding the homeless, working in food pantries, and singing in her choir.
“It was also a lot of singing, too, because it’s a choir tour, and so we got to go to this one church, where we met like a lot of people too,” Thomas said. “They were so like nice.”
Though a few find themselves traveling for the summer, others choose to work or simply stay home.
“I didn’t do much. I just stayed at home, mainly. Nothing special,” freshman Dany Frenette said.
Although many enjoy the break, others found themselves waiting for it to end.
“Most of the time, I actually kind of wished for school to start because I’d be bored at the house,” freshman Angel Worsham said.
The students all spent their vacations in unique ways, but, unfortunately for some, summer is now over. The Eagles are back in the halls of RHS.
