Meet the Staff: Emily Penney

Lonelle Owens, Staff Writer

Get to know a little bit more about junior Emily Penney, a first year Eagle Media staff member and hobby photographer.

Q: What is different from Emily and outside of school Emily?
A: I go to school because I have to. I want to graduate obviously, but I feel like whenever I’m here it’s just to make other people in my life happy. So outside of school is when I feel like people actually meet me and get to see the things that I genuinely enjoy and makes me happy so it’s just a different perspective.”

Q: How would you describe your taste in music?
A:
I think the music you listen to really is a reflection of who you are, but as far as genres go, I don’t really discriminate. Rock, Rap, Indie, Pop, Country (old country). I like to write poems, so I just think that it’s a really beautiful thing to be able to take the feelings of the masses and word it in a way that resonates and touches people. No matter what my mood is, I’ll turn to music.”

Q: If you were to talk to a younger version of you what would you tell yourself?
A:
That it’ll get better, which is something that I still have to remind myself sometimes. But I think more than anything, I just needed some hope that there was more to life than what I had experienced thus far and I’ve finally gotten to the point where I know that no matter what happens, I’ll be okay.”
