Unique takes on the new form as junior Adam Leverett pieces together his original song “Fade Away,” mesmerizing the crowd with his music at the annual student talent show while also impressively playing his guitar in the process.
There’s no doubt Adam has a passion for music, taking this opportunity to express it with the rest of the school. He auditioned and with enough practice, was able to snag a spot on stage at the talent show, making his way under the lights of the auditorium with the creative performance of his own hard work and dedication.
“I wanted to get my song out to have people hear my music and get it out there,” Leverett said.
And that he did, as once the talent show began to close down to his turn, Adam stated his stage fright when he first stepped up to the mic.
“When the talent show first started, towards the end I was genuinely terrified, but after I was done performing I felt good,” Leverett said.
Despite the jitters, he still managed to face the audience awaiting him, giving them a one-of-a-kind example of how original and innovative ideas can lead to spectacular results, especially in Adam’s case. It makes a person wonder how one could memorize such unique lyrics, all while playing an instrument and keeping a straight face. Luckily, Adam has his ways.
“At home, I would sing the song over and over again until I got the lyrics down,” Leverett said. “But I also made sure to have the lyrics easy enough to remember. [My guitar] had basic chords. Once I got the lyrics and the song down, it was easy enough just to play and sing at the same time.”
With his soulful melody, Adam truly took a lasting step in his music career, taking a risk that not many have the confidence to do.
“I love to do music. It’s like the bigger hobby I’ve liked to do for a long time now,” Leverett said.
