Swimming is a single person sport, but here at RHS it takes a team to achieve their goals. This sport is mostly mental, pushing limits you’ve never tested before. As the elite high school, our team puts their all into everything they do.
“Swimming is kind of like a lonely sport since it’s just you and the pool, but it’s relaxing and since you have a lot of friends you really never feel that lonely even if it’s not a team sport,” senior Zazil Berrios said.
At the end of the day swimming is a sport, but it has a peaceful calm to it.
“It’s a relaxing sport when it can be, especially at practice,” senior Lillian Salazar said. “It clears your head.”
Swim meets sound stressful, but our team is always on point.
“The thing I enjoy most [about swimming] is really just having fun in the water, and getting to meet new people and new personalities,” freshman Keegan Thompson said.
Not only did our swimmers push their limits, but they made history.
“Well, I’ve personally broken my 100 butterfly record and my 50 free record. I have another friend who broke her 500 record,” Berrios said.
These students put their all into what they love. They have set an outstanding standard for the future of RHS.
“[Swimming] made me feel more comfortable and social,” freshman Katie Dang said. “I [felt like] I could find a community that I belonged to.”
